Climate and Environmental Peacemaking Programme Officer (Yemen)
- 1000, Bruxelles
- November 10
Based in Brussels and active in over a dozen countries, the European Institute of Peace (www.eip.org) is an independent organisation working collaboratively with the parties to the conflict, those who represent people suffering from insecurity or at risk of violence, as well as European decision-makers and the conflict prevention, resolution and mediation community. We provide practical experience, technical expertise, and policy advice on conflict resolution. We use a variety of tools to help us do this, including analysis, mapping and design of peace processes and agreements, facilitating policy discussions, and proposing practical engagement, for example through inclusive dialogue and mediation support. Are you captivated by our innovative approach to peace, and do you want to contribute to the mission of our institute? Do you share our vision for a world where people live in safety and peace because conflicts and grievances are resolved through inclusive dialogue and lasting political agreements? We are looking for a Programme Officer to support the Institute’s Climate and Environmental Peacemaking (CEPM) programme within the Peace Practice and Innovation (PPI) unit. Project context The Climate and Environmental Peacemaking (CEPM) Programme of the European Institute of Peace (EIP) aims to enhance conflict resolution in response to climate change and broader environmental challenges in conflict contexts, thereby contributing to a sustainable environment and improving the prospects for durable peace. Environmental peacemaking seeks to explore the relationship between climate, environment, and natural resources and conflict and peace dynamics, aiming to discover new approaches to foster dialogue and reconciliation. The CEPM programme aims to support peace leaders and local communities in addressing climate and environmental concerns within the broader framework of peace processes, including conflict prevention and resolution. The Environmental Pathways for Reconciliation (EPfR) project aims to support sustainable peace in Yemen by engaging local and national actors in environmental dialogue and cooperation. The project supports local and national actors to identify and act upon these environment-related security risks, using them as entry points for dialogue and elements of peacemaking. Within the scope of the EPfR project, the Institute is seeking a Climate and Environmental Peacemaking Programme Officer to coordinate an international team in delivering its outputs. The Officer would possess thematic knowledge in environment, climate, peace and security, and have relevant programming experience in conflict-affected and fragile contexts, along with results-based management skills. Reporting to the Climate and Environmental Peacemaking Manager, the Officer will be the lead on project coordination and implementation.
Senior Programme Manager for European Affairs

- September 26
The European Institute of Peace (www.eip.org) is an independent body that strives to design and deliver sustainable engagement and dialogue processes in conflict regions across the world and can thus act both on the immediate security challenges in Europe but also the wider ramifications of the shifting global order. The Institute combines the operational flexibility of an informal actor with a proximity to the EU and its member states both in how it is governed and what it does. About the role The Senior Programme Manager for European Affairs carries the Institute's strategy development for its European relations, including senior level relationship-building with high level officials, diplomats and political actors in Brussels and European capitals. It is a central role at the Institute, with real impact on the direction of key initiatives and hands-on involvement in some of the most politically salient processes at EIP. Working closely with the Deputy Executive Director, the Senior Programme Manager ensures that the Institute delivers on its raison d’être: embedding concrete conflict prevention and resolution efforts in European foreign policy. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious professional with a good understanding of dialogue and mediation as tools for conflict resolution, interested in strengthening European foreign policy through the means of dialogue processes and quiet diplomacy. We are looking for a self-sufficient individual with an advanced understanding of EU foreign policy structures and decision-making, a top-notch political network, excellent representation skills, and ability to create opportunities from challenging political circumstances. As Senior Programme Manager for European Affairs you will be part of the Europe Team with particular responsibility for European policy development – both for the Institute as a whole and devising strategies for specific projects. You will moreover be in charge of select field-based programming in Eastern Europe, including political dialogues, mediation initiatives and support to a variety of peace processes and political actors, overseeing a team of excellent and motivated colleagues. This position is based in Brussels and entails travel in Europe and its neighbourhood.
