Responsibilities
Your contribution will be
- Developing, refining, and implementing policy and advocacy strategies and outputs on key legislative files in collaboration with relevant departments, units and country offices
- Conducting lobbying and advocacy with EU, national, and international policymakers and stakeholders, monitoring progress and reporting regularly
- Proactively identifying opportunities and drive momentum on key policy objectives, including by harnessing the full potential of EU institutional engagement
- Developing and review science-backed advocacy material such as reports, position papers, briefings and other publications and communications for institutional audiences and the public
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with a broad network of key institutional and other stakeholders to advance policy priorities
- Staying ahead of political and policy developments tied to animal welfare, monitoring and responding to publications to capitalise on opportunities where relevant
- Representing in meetings and fora, including through speeches and presentations;
- Organising meetings and advocacy events
Qualifications
Your profile ideally illustrates
- Strong understanding of EU institutions, policies, processes and stakeholders
- Proven experience in EU public affairs, including the successful design and implementation of lobbying and advocacy strategies
- Professional experience in an EU policy-focused role, ideally in animal welfare, animal health, conservation, biodiversity, agriculture or environmental policy
- Demonstrated track record in policy monitoring and analysis
- Ability to engage effectively with decision makers at EU, national, and international levels;
- Excellent analytical, organisational, negotiation, networking, and communication skills, combined with a high level of social competence
- Educational background in EU affairs, political science, law, wildlife science or other related field of studies;
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) – other languages are an asset
- Willingness to travel on an irregular basis
- Passion for animal welfare and FOUR PAWS' vision and mission.
